Australian innovation district introduced to Design Thinking

A delegation representing Tonsley innovation district in South Australia was visiting Stockholm in November 2015 to meet with selected technology clusters, industry and R&D institutions for exchanges on technology and innovation, opportunities and collaboration. Interdisciplinary Professor Ronald Jones (one of the pioneers using Design Thinking in Sweden) and Curiosity Shop’s Erika Tanos were invited by the Australian Embassy to provide a brief but compelling introduction to the Design Thinking mindset (and far beyond!) as an approach for innovation and extended cooperation between different areas of expertise. The workshop sparked lively discussions around the need for bold, game-changing initiatives and possibly new approaches for complex collaborations.

Tonsley is a new interdisciplinary innovation district in South Australia, fast developing into a high-metabolism collaborative precinct where industry, academia, Government and the community come together to create new value. Focus areas are Mining and Energy Services, Software and Simulation, Cleantech and Renewable Energy, Medical Devices and Assistive Technologies.
